Experienced Home Care Professionals Serving Oakland & Macomb County, MI
At Avalon Essential Home Care, experience isn’t a buzzword. Most members of our office team have worked as caregivers in the field. That means when you call with a question, change in schedule, or after-hours concern, you’re talking to someone who knows what it’s like to be there.
We don’t hide behind desks or pass off emergencies to a call center. We plan each case with care, match clients to caregivers directly, and follow through every week. Our leadership is involved in daily operations, and our staff knows how to step in when needed, because they’ve done the work themselves.
We believe families deserve consistency, not turnover. That’s why we support our team with flexible schedules, long-term benefits, and a workplace that values real caregiving. Our team stays, and that’s one of the biggest reasons our clients stay too.
What Families Say About Our Caregivers
Detroit Caregivers FAQs
Yes. While not every member of our office team has worked directly in the field as a caregiver, most of us come from the caregiving world, and everyone on our staff is fully trained to understand the realities of in-home care. That training, combined with the majority of our team’s lived caregiving experience, shapes how we manage schedules, answer calls, and respond when care plans shift.
Because of this background, when you reach out to us, you’re speaking with someone who knows what families face and what quality care requires. Our team is prepared to support personal care, memory challenges, and mobility needs with knowledge and compassion. This perspective is especially valuable during emergencies, transitions, and after-hours calls, when families most need guidance and reassurance.
We follow a strict process before placing any caregiver:
- Monthly Background Checks: All caregivers are screened regularly, not just at hiring.
- Required Certifications: CPR and first aid certification are mandatory.
- Alzheimer’s-Specific Training: Caregivers follow Alzheimer’s Association guidelines for dementia care.
- Ongoing Feedback Review: We conduct regular check-ins and review client feedback to track performance.
- Experience-Based Matching: We assign caregivers based on their history and compatibility with the care plan.
This approach helps us maintain a high standard of care and build long-term trust with families.
Many of our caregivers have been with us for years. We support them with flexible schedules, access to benefits like AFLAC and 401K plans, and pay-on-demand options. This helps us keep a consistent team in place, which in turn gives clients the stability they need.
Caregivers stay when they feel respected and supported. We give them the tools to do the job well—and the recognition to know they’re valued. That’s why Avalon has one of the highest caregiver retention rates in the area.
We look for professionals who are reliable, compassionate, and committed:
- Experienced Caregivers: Those who have worked in home care or similar roles.
- Team Players: People who communicate clearly and follow through.
- Adaptable Workers: Caregivers who can handle changes in plans or environments.
- Specialized Support: Those trained in dementia, mobility, or long-term disability care.
- Respectful & Dependable: We expect our team to represent Avalon with professionalism in every home.
Every caregiver represents our name, so we make sure they’re the right fit before they walk in the door. If you think you’d make a great caregiver, consider joining our team!
All care coordination and after-hours calls are handled by our in-office team. Every person who takes a call at Avalon has been trained to respond quickly and with full context of the care plan. We also use Answer Connect as a routing system, but any emergency is escalated to someone on our direct team immediately.
This structure gives families real peace of mind. Whether it’s late at night, a last-minute shift change, or an urgent concern, they can count on speaking to someone who knows their situation and can help without delay.
