About Our Patient-Centered Care for Seniors & Families in Oakland & Macomb Counties, MI
In 2004, Avalon Essential Home Care opened its doors in Troy, and we’ve been supporting families across Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne counties ever since. We’re not a franchise. We don’t send strangers to your home. Every caregiver is introduced in person, and every care plan is reviewed together, because this work is personal.
Our team provides 24-hour home care services, companion care, and in-home nursing support for seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities. We also help with transitional care, medication assistance, and private nursing when needed. Most of our office staff started as caregivers, so when something urgent comes up, we know how to handle it.
We check in weekly, answer after hours, and are here to take care of the people who work here with retirement plans, AFLAC, pay-on-demand, and real support. That’s why so many of our caregivers stick around for years.
Our Story: 20+ Years of Trusted Home Care in Oakland & Macomb Counties
Avalon Essential Home Care was founded in 2004 by a family that believed caregiving should come from people who’ve done the work themselves. Emilie Lange started as a caregiver in the field and eventually took over the company, staying involved in everything from hiring to day-to-day support. That hands-on approach still guides how we serve families across Oakland and Macomb counties.
We’ve built our reputation on consistency, trust, and caregiver retention. Most of our office staff have worked shifts in the field. We know what it’s like to answer middle-of-the-night calls, handle tough transitions, and walk families through difficult decisions. That experience shapes how we operate and why our clients stay with us.
Today, Avalon is one of the oldest home care providers in the area. We’re Medicaid-compliant, undergo audits and licensing reviews every three years, and maintain strong relationships with hospitals, case managers, and long-term care professionals. But what matters most hasn’t changed—we still show up for our clients like we would for our own families.

Avalon Essential Home Care FAQs
Avalon Essential Home Care has served Oakland and Macomb counties since 2004. With over 20 years of continuous operation, we’ve become one of the most experienced and established non-medical home care providers in the region. Our history reflects a long-standing commitment to families, caregivers, and the community.
This experience matters. It means we’ve seen what works, how needs change over time, and how to adapt while staying consistent. Families trust Avalon not just because we’ve been around, but because we continue to show up with the same reliability and care that built our name from the start.
Several important differences make Avalon stand out:
- All Office Staff Have Caregiving Experience: Every person who answers your call has worked in the field and understands the care firsthand.
- We Stay Involved: Our owner remains active in hiring, onboarding, and case planning.
- We Build Long-Term Relationships: Clients meet their caregivers first and keep a consistent schedule.
- We Support Our Caregivers: Retirement plans, insurance options, and flexible pay help us retain top-quality staff.
- We Answer 24/7: You’ll always speak to someone from our team.
These standards shape every experience you’ll have with our team.
Avalon is led by Emilie Lange, who began as a caregiver in 2005 and has remained fully involved in the company ever since. As the daughter of Avalon’s original founder, she knows every part of the business, from working shifts to supporting families during critical transitions. Her leadership is not behind the scenes. She’s on the phone with clients, guiding new hires, and leading caregiver recognition efforts throughout the year.
This leadership style creates a company culture rooted in experience, responsiveness, and accountability. It also sets the tone for how Avalon trains, retains, and manages its team. When we say we understand caregiving, we mean it—because we’ve done it.
We take caregiver quality seriously at every step:
- Background Checks: All caregivers are screened before hiring and rechecked monthly.
- CPR & First Aid Certification: Every team member must meet baseline safety training.
- Ongoing Performance Monitoring: We conduct regular check-ins and review feedback from clients.
- Care Plan Matching: Caregivers are assigned based on experience and compatibility.
- Specialized Dementia Training: Those working with Alzheimer’s & dementia clients are trained to follow Alzheimer’s Association standards.
This process ensures every caregiver placed in a home is reliable, qualified, and ready to support your family.
Avalon offers 24-hour availability for every client. But unlike many agencies, we don’t outsource that responsibility. When you call after hours, you speak to someone from our office team—someone familiar with your situation, not a third-party call center. We also use a support line that immediately routes urgent calls to our staff if something can’t wait.
This system helps us respond quickly and accurately, no matter the time. Families often call during high-stress moments—after a fall, during a hospital discharge, or when plans suddenly change. Having a real person on the line who knows your care plan makes all the difference.
